My Dream Office Setup

(An aspirational Apple workspace, from a relative Apple newbie)

This post is an invitation to dream with me.

Not in a shiny, must-have way, but in a thoughtful, future-facing way. This is what my next-level Apple workspace would look like once familiarity replaces learning curves, and once my creative rhythm asks for more space, more screens, and more ease. Just like choosing clothes that spark joy, your workspace can support your mood too, which is something I explore more in Dopamine Dressing: Introduction.

If you want to see the practical version of what I’m using right now, you can start with My Office Start Up Setup.

What I already know works

What I love most about my current setup is that it has become time- and energy-efficient. Once the learning curve leveled off, everything started working together instead of against me.

That’s the foundation I want to keep.

This dream setup isn’t about replacing what works. It’s about expanding it.

My current setup would eventually become my travel configuration. Familiar tools, familiar systems, even if they aren’t the lightest on the market. Familiarity matters when you’re creating away from home.

The desk: smooth, seamless, and quiet

My dream desk has one non-negotiable requirement: a single, smooth surface.

No seams. No joins. Just a uniform top that feels good under your hands. I’ve had my eye on glass-top options for this reason. The tactile experience matters more than I expected. I’ve learned that how a space is organized can either add stress or ease it, which is why getting organized reduces emotional overload, something I wrote about in When Organization Becomes Support.

As with my current desk, motorized components should fade into the background. Quiet, steady, and dependable. No sudden jolts or attention-grabbing noise.

Visual stimulation and color choices can subtly affect how steady or scattered we feel, similar to how color affects your emotional state, which I explore in How Creativity Helps Emotional Regulation.

My foundational desk choice: quiet, stable, and ready to lift with ease as you move between sitting and standing. A stable surface sets the vibe for the whole workspace.

The chair: supportive, not oversized

After years of researching gaming chairs, office chairs, and every ergonomic promise under the sun, I know exactly what my body needs.

My dream chair would be a Herman Miller–style chair in Size A, purely because of proportions. Shorter seat depth matters. A lot. With a seat depth around 16 inches and a lower minimum seat height, it’s far more compatible with vertically challenged legs.

Support should adapt to the body, not demand constant adjustment or compromise. I want this workspace to function as a grounding sanctuary, similar to how I describe using your environment as a workspace as grounding sanctuary in Grounding Yourself.

The laptop: more screen, more space

I already love my MacBook Air, so this isn’t a brand shift. It’s a size and capacity upgrade.

My dream laptop would have:

    • A larger screen for visual breathing room

    • Enough storage that I never have to negotiate with my files again

In an ideal world, that means 8TB of storage. Realistically, even starting with 512GB would work for initial setup.

So yes, the dream includes a 15-inch MacBook Air.

A powerhouse laptop for creative work, seamless multitasking, and future-proofed performance. Perfect for writing, design, and everyday magic.

The iPads: multiply, unapologetically

This is where the dream leans fully into itself.

In this version of the office, there are multiple iPads, specifically Apple iPad Air 11-inch models, each with generous storage. One on the left. One on the right. One above. It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it’s really about visual flow and touch interaction.

Touch screens matter to me. They change how ideas move from mind to page.

This setup would also include a second Apple Pencil, upgraded to the Pro version. Redundancy isn’t excess when tools are part of your thinking process.

Stylus: Apple Pencil (2nd Gen)

A must-have for digital notes, sketches, and creative inspiration directly on the iPad. Velvety smooth precision makes idea capture effortless.

A note on mental health and movement

One essential part of this dream setup isn’t a screen at all.

It’s an under-desk treadmill with incline.

I’ve tried a portable walking pad before, and it was genuinely helpful. The only thing it lacked was incline. Movement supports my focus and my mental wellbeing, especially during longer creative sessions.

In this dream setup, movement is built in, not added as an afterthought.

Final thoughts

This is a dream setup, yes. But it’s not about excess.

It’s about space, flow, and sustainability. More room for ideas. More physical comfort. Less friction between intention and creation.

For now, I’ll keep creating with what I have, and refining slowly as clarity grows. That part doesn’t change.

Dreaming, after all, is just another form of planning.
